La corrupción en España (2004-2010): datos, percepción y efectos

Resumen:

 Los escándalos de corrupción investigados por los jueces han tenido gran presencia mediática en los últimos años en España. Ello podría haber generado una percepción generalizada de incremento de la corrupción y reforzado la desafección institucional. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar qué rasgos cuantitativos y cualitativos tiene la corrupción en España y si la percepción correlaciona con los datos objetivos existentes. El texto parte de tres hipótesis. Para demostrarlas se han analizado estadísticas judiciales, noticias de medios de comunicación, sumarios judiciales y datos de diversas encuestas. Este artículo contribuye a un mejor conocimiento de los rasgos de la corrupción en España desde 2004 y abre la vía a estudios posteriores más detallados sobre causas y consecuencias del fenómeno.

Corruption in Spain (2004-2010): Data, Perception and Consequences

Abstract:

 For some years now, Spanish media have highlighted the numerous corru ption scandals investigated by the judiciary. All this information could have led to a more widespread perception of corruption, as shown by different surveys and indexes. The main object of this article is to analyze the quantitative and qualitative features of corruption in Spain and to determine whether there is a correlation between hard data on corruption and perception of the problem. In this text we have tested three hypotheses by examining judicial statistics, the contents of judicial inquiries and data from different surveys and media. This article contributes to a better understanding of the main features of the problem and opens the way to more detailed research on its causes and consequences.
